Dr.
Anca Balasu is a child psychiatrist at A Child’s Place. Dr.
Balasu joined PeaceHealth Medical Group on Tuesday, September 6, 2005.
Dr. Balasu received her medical degree at Carol Davila University of
Medicine in Bucharest, Romania in 1995. She completed a Residency in
Pediatrics in 2000, at Fundeni University Hospital, Bucharest. Dr.
Balasu explains that her work with Romanian orphans towards the end of the
training ignited her interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
She completed her residency in general adult psychiatry at North Shore
University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, in 2003, and completed her
fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, summer of 2005.

Mejo, ARNP, PSYD, recently joined our medical staff and will work with both families and children at A Child’s Place. Dr. Mejo is a licensed child, adolescent and adult nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority, and a licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. Mejo earned a master’s degree in psychosocial nursing from the University of Washington in 1972 and a doctoral degree in 1992 from Pacific University in Oregon. She completed her fellowship in psychology and obtained her license to practice as a clinical psychologist in the state of Washington in 1994.
She worked for Lower Columbia Mental Health Center from 1975 to 1981, and in her own local private practice from 1981 until June of 2000.
Gayle
Tate, LICSW, is a child and family therapist for A Child’s Place at
St. John Medical Center. Gayle received her Masters Degree in Social Work
at Walla Walla College in College Place, WA. She also has bachelor degrees
in Sociology and Social Work from Southern College in Collegedale, TN.
Prior to joining PeaceHealth, Gayle has worked
with children, adolescents, and families in varied settings, from
inner city school based therapy to specialized day treatment for
children and adolescents in rural communities. Gayle has extensive
experience providing treatment for children and adolescents with
behavioral and mood disorders, such as conduct/oppositional defiant
disorder, ADHD, depression and anxiety. She also provides treatment
for situations such as divorce, school phobia, adjustment issues,
physical and sexual abuse.
