Students - Click here to get started
Externs/Re-entry Nurses - Click here to get started
  • Are there areas that do not provide Clinical Experiences?
Occasionally, due to patient needs, there are areas that do not provide clinical experiences. Please contact us for more information.
  • Where can I park when doing my Clinical Experience?
Students are responsible for their own parking needs. Parking at any of our facilities is difficult and costly so you are encouraged to utilize LTD bus service which is free for students. Please go to www.ltd.org for service information.
  • Is there a map of directions to Sacred Heart Medical Center?
Please click here for map information.
  • I have a family member who works at PeaceHealth and I want to shadow him during one of his shifts. Can I just come in with him anytime?
We welcome job shadow experiences especially for the purpose of gaining insight to wonderful health care careers. However, as a duty to our patients, families and staff, we must follow a specific process of student placement. Please click here to get started.
  • Where can I get a TB screening or any of the immunizations required for some of the experiences?
First, check with your instructor or advisor. Many schools provide these services to their students. If you are unable to obtain this through your school, you can contact your personal healthcare provider or the public health department in your area.
  • Is there a library for my use?
You are welcome to utilize our professional library on the first floor of Sacred Heart Medical Center only while on-site during your clinical experience and with proper ID.
  • Is there a cafeteria?
There are cafeteria and/or vending services at all of our facilities. Students will be charged general public prices for food services.
  • How do I obtain a background check?
First, check with your instructor or advisor. Many schools provide this service to their students or require it prior to admission. If you are unable to obtain this through your school, your clinical placement coordinator at PeaceHealth will assist you.
  • I need to do my Clinical Experience right away in order to get class credit. How soon after I submit my request can I expect a reply?
You should receive a reply within 5 working days after submitting your application. If not, please fill free to contact us for an update. Be aware, any applications submitted with less than 1 week notice may not be processed. Our foremost concern is the delivery of Exceptional Medicine and Compassionate Care to our patients and their families. Depending on patient care needs and staff availability, students will be placed when there is opportunity. An emergent need for a student and an emergent need for a patient are very different. Patient needs will be met first, then student placements.
  • I got some fluid splashed on my face during my experience and I am afraid I may have been exposed to something. What should I do?
If you sustain an exposure or injury: first, you are encouraged to go to the emergency department or urgent care immediately if treatment is necessary. These services will be charged to you at established Clinical Facility charges. All exposures and/or injuries must then be reported to the immediate PeaceHealth supervisor and your instructor/advisor as soon as possible. Also notify L&D at 686-8527 for follow-up by a placement coordinator.
  • I showed up for my Clinical Experience but the department didn’t know I was coming. What do I do?
We do apologize for any inconvenience. First, identify who you are to the department staff. Provide them with the contact information you were given to make your arrangement- usually the department manager or designee. Ask to speak to your contact person for directions. Rarely, there may be situations happening within the department that are not conducive to students being present at that time and you may be asked to reschedule. Please make alternative arrangements with the contact person you were issued or contact us for assistance.
  • What is an affiliation agreement and how do I find out if my school has one with PeaceHealth?
An affiliation agreement is like a contract between an educational institute and PeaceHealth that outlines the roles and responsibilities of both organizations regarding student activities. Please indicate on your application which school or organization you are affiliated with and the placement coordinator will verify that an agreement is active. Requesting experiences that require obtaining an affiliation agreement will delay placements.
  • The requirements for the experience I want mention "if applicable." How do I know if it is applicable or not?
The placement coordinator at PeaceHealth will determine what applicable requirements you need as determined by the affiliation agreement and work with you to fulfill such requirements.
